Uncorking, or should we say unscrewing) the Unconventional

In the world of wine, conventions often reign supreme. Red grapes produce red wines, while white grapes give birth to white wines, right? Well, not always! Cabernet Franc Blanc, may be a rebel of the wine world, breaking norms and teasing taste buds with its unexpected twist on tradition. Crafted from the same grape variety, Cabernet Franc Blanc emerges as a new change from the deep red hues typically associated with Cabernet Franc. Seems a lot of people I have had the pleasure of meeting in the tasting room, are looking for something different.

The Passaggio 2023 Cabernet Franc Blanc, while considered a white a wine, has a very slight pink color. The bottle has a screw cap. (way easier for opening) On the nose, delicate floral notes mingle with red fruits. You might find layers of herbal nuances, hints of red berry fruit, and a very bright acidity. This clean, dry white wine is refreshing, and mouthwatering, leaving you wanting more. The alcohol by volume is 12.3%. Who doesn’t like that?

Its bright acidity and fruitiness make it an excellent match for quite a few dishes, from fresh seafood and grilled vegetables to spicy Thai food. Maybe even consider serving this Cabernet Franc Blanc alongside unexpected dishes, such as sushi with wasabi-infused soy sauce. (YUM!) My friend, Patricia, would serve this with roasted pork belly and mango salsa. (I hope she reads this and tries it!!)

In the wine world that often takes itself too seriously, Cabernet Franc Blanc is a breath of fresh air—a reminder to embrace the unexpected.
